The victory in the category "Digital Transformation" with an innovative mould making process goes to CUBES GmbH.

On Tuesday evening, April 9th, 2019, Minister of Economics Margarete Schramböck (ÖVP) presented the State Prize for Digitalization for the first time at the 4Gamechangers-Festival in the Marxhalle Vienna. In the category "Digital Transformation" the award went to CUBES GmbH from Salzburg, a subsidiary of the East Tyrolean company Micado, whose CEO Edwin Meindl and CUBES CEO Karl Wagner accepted the prize.

The jury justified its decision for CUBES as follows: "This project has completely digitalized the value chain in the production of close contour and thus material-saving castings for molded parts in the segment of the automotive and aircraft supply industry, which is important for Austria. From the offer to the 3D model to the delivered model, all work steps were digitally transformed".

In this innovative process, "near-contour cast blocks" for model and mould making are manufactured from a specially developed material. The digitally controlled production process reduces costs in model and mould making by up to 40 percent.
